Planet Fitness opened a location in Christiana at the Christiana Town Center.
The center is anchored by Boscov’s, with Staples, Bed Bath and Beyond and Five and Blow as other tenants.
The new 24,879 square-foot location is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 301 Main St., Christiana.
Founded in 1992 in Dover, NH, Planet Fitness is one of the largest franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the United States.
As of September 30, Planet Fitness had more than 14.1 million members and 1,899 stores in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Mexico.
Fitness centers, like Planet Fitness, have been occupying locations that have become vacant as larger retail stores change locations or go out of business. The newest Planet Fitness replaced a Restoration Hardware outlet and before that a DSW shoe location that left or new quarters at the Christiana Town Center.
