The Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships has added to its presence in Elkton, MD by acquiring the town’s Ford dealership.
The announcement was made via Facebook.
The acquisition of Elkton Ford marks the 22nd dealership for Hertrich. Hertrich Ford is located on Route 40 and is part of a market area of 100,00 residents or more that includes Cecil County, Bear-Glasgow and Middletown.
Hertrich, based in southern Delaware, is one of the 150 largest dealership groups in the nation with revenues in excess of $800 million.
Hertrich moved into Elkton a few years ago by building a new Ram-Jeep-Dodge (Fiat-Chrysler) dealership.
Hertrich earlier announced the purchase of Chevrolet of Dover, formerly Townsend Brothers.
Elkton has seen growing competition in the car business, with Apple Auto adding a Mitsubishi new car dealership to its Route 40 used car operation.
