The former Sears Auto Center at the Prices Corner Shopping Center is proposing a branch bank and restaurant with drive-through access at the site.
An engineering firm for Jardel Co. filed documents with New Castle County Land Use.
The proposed redevelopment of the two-acre site on the northern boundary of the shopping center would consist of a 5,015 square foot drive-in restaurant facility and a 3,270 square foot bank.
Occupants of the restaurant and bank sites were not identified in the documents.
The auto center operated until last month. A nearby Sears store closed earlier and has been the subject of speculation on any new occupant for the site at the shopping center anchored by JC Penney.
With few large retailers in an expansion mode, speculation has focused on Target, with the Minneapolis-based retailer noting that no new store locations for Delaware have been announced on its website.
Often mentioned in the fast-food area is Chick-fil-A, which draws heavy customer traffic with each restaurant opening.
Prices Corner is 375,000 square foot shopping center in a high traffic area on Kirkwood Highway, near Route 141 and west of Wilmington.
