The company handling the bankruptcy of Sears announced that the remaining Kmart store near Rehoboth Beach will close by February.

The store had earlier been downsized, with other retailers aking space in the heavily traveled Coastal Highway location.

Transformco listed the store among 95 other Sears and Kmart locations that will close. Transformco last year purchased the bulk of Sears Holdings.

The company is shuttering Kmarts in Bear and Pike Creek and earlier closed a long-running location in College Square, Newark.

The only remaining Sears store is in Concord Mall in north Wilmington after Prices Corner and Dover locations were shuttered. Sears also has a liquidation outlet in University Plaza south of Newark.

The company is now down to 182 stores with the latest round of closings. Sears was once the nation’s largest retailer but fell victim to changing markets and a succession of failed turnaround plans.

Transformco acquired Sears Hometown, a chain of independently owned stores in smaller communities as part of a turnaround strategy.
