Buckley’s Auto Care in the Five Points area between Newport and Wilmington is adding services as a Prices Corner tire and battery mainstay closes its doors.
The half-century-old business is adding an alignment system and new diagnostic equipment to its offerings.
The Sears Auto Center at the Prices Corner Shopping Center closed its doors in mid-October after staying open for more than a year after the closing of the adjacent Sears store.
No announcements have been made, but a redevelopment of at least a portion of the center is in the works.
In recent years, the Sears store had referred customers to Buckley’s for diagnostics (check engine light) and other repairs it did not handle, owner Greg Buckley noted. In return, Buckey’s referred customers to Sears for front end alignments.
The Sears center offered exhaust, batteries, oil change service, tires, and alignments.
Buckey’s is affiliated with the NAPA auto shop system. The shop also underwent a remodeling project that included an upgraded customer area and new signage.
