Good afternoon,

A story during the past week on the State of Delaware filing suit against the administration’s decision to void California’s emissions standards drew a spirited response on our Facebook page.

There seemed to be a gender gap, with males unhappy with the decision by Attorney General Kathy Jennings. Delaware and neighboring states have been following California emission standards for many years.

Up until now, the federal government has routinely granted a waiver to California during Republican and Democrat administrations. California has been pushing for increasingly ambitious gas mileage goals.

Sen. Tom Carper, a longtime champion of California compliant vehicles sees the move as retaliation against California, a state that has been fighting the administration over a number of issues.

A sample comment from a male:  So let’s pay extra for ultra MPG cars and then the state wants to tax us on the miles we drive too. That sounds real fair!

“Good for Delaware and thank you to our AG! Why the mouth-breathers think increased emissions and more pollution are good things are beyond me. Guess that’s what “owning the libs” is all about,” one woman commented.  One exception was a frequent commenter who said she could not wait to leave the state.

A final note to our valued readers.  A technical glitch led to our Wednesday newsletter not being posted until late in the evening. It was decided it would be better to not post two newsletters in quick succession.
