The Ministry of Caring has announced the opening of the Village of St. John.

The affordable housing complex for senior citizens is at the former Episcopal cathedral in Brandywine Village across the creek from downtown Wilmington.
.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Caring Inc., the Village of St. John will soon welcome its first residents.

The project included the renovation of the cathedral and dean’s house, along with the new construction of the Weinberg Wing.

The Village of St. John will provide safe and beautifully appointed apartments and amenities for income-qualified seniors 62 and over, according to the Ministry of Caring.

It includes 53 one- and two-bedroom apartments, community space that was once the nave and sanctuary of the Cathedral, and a courtyard, cafe and dining room.

Care was taken to preserve and bring to new life to the historical details of St. John’s buildings and grounds, which were created during the Civil War.
