The Delaware Department of Transportation plans to build a new Canal District office building in Bear.
The building would replace a 50-year-old structure at the site, according to DelDOT spokesman C.R. McLeod.
Offices will be moved in January 2020, with demolition to follow. A new building will contain less square footage but will allow for moreefficientuse of space thanthe previous complex.
The project will also allow for more parking at the crowded site off Route 7, between Routes 40 and 273.
The project has been funded, McLeod said.
