DelDOT announces lane shifts as work continues near Christiana Mall.

The Delaware Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that access to the left auxiliary lane for the Route 1 Exit 165C northbound flyover ramp in the Christiana Mall will be moved just north of the existing Route 7 overpass by roughly 2,000 feet. This will allow  for construction of the center bridge pier supports for the new Road A/Route 7 bridge over Route 1.

For motorists entering Route 1 southbound from I-95 southbound at Exit 4A, there will also be a lane shift for the two lanes on the flyover to accommodate the work zone.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays as the new work zone is established  Sunday, September 29  and Monday, September 30

The work on this phase of the project will last until 6  a.m. on Friday, November 22.

Construction of a new bridge adjacent to the existing Road A bridge will provide additional capacity between Center Boulevard and Route 7. The project began in spring 2019.

This work also includes the widening of Road A and reconfiguring the surrounding intersections to improve traffic flow in the area. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2021.

The project is financed with state transportation funds.  More information is  available here.
