Bear child care center authorized to reopen

The Little People Child Development Center in Bear is now listed as being licensed to operate.

The child care search sitefor the state revised the listing after an earlier suspension. The center on Wrangle Hill Road was ordered closed following the death earlier this month of an infant. The death led to murder charges for a former employee.

WDEL reported the center has not reopened but was authorized to do so by the state after it was determined that there was no systemic problem with the facility.

A spokesman for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families did not immediately respond for a request for comment on the status of the site.

Little People’s website lists other locations in Bear, Christiana and New Castle. The company has not publicly commented on its status
