The maker of red Solo cups plans to close a plant and distribution center in Maryland as it moves those operations to Delaware.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the privately owned container company will close distribution centers in  Hampstead and Havre de Grace, MD.

According to The Sun, the company is building a new facility in Delaware that will replace the two sites, which will close in 2020. The location of the plant was not disclosed. Total employment at the sites is 90.

Not affected is a site in Federalsburg, MD, the Sun reported.

In addition to Solo cups, DART makes foam containers and plastic cutlery.

Over the past decade, Delaware has been on the short end of efforts to bring distribution centers to the state, due to a lack of available sites. Harford and Cecil counties have landed a number of companies like Restoration Hardware, The Container Store and grocer Lidl.

Options are expected to become available with a site near Delaware City and the former GM Boxwood plant, which is being razed.

in the past legislative session, Maryland became the first state to ban foam containers that are a mainstay of the DART product line.

Delaware legislators voted to ban single-use plastic containers but did not consider foam containers.

The company did not immediately respond to an Email request for information.

DART is headquartered in Mason, MI.
