The popular and sometimes controversial Hobby Lobby chain is headed to Dover.

Both the Delaware State News and WBOC TV reported the retailer will set up shop in space formerly occupied by Acme Markes off Du Pont Highway near the Dover Downs casino-resort and harness racing complex.

As the name indicates Hobby Lobby focuses on arts and crafts. The privately held company makes no secret of its evangelical  Christian beliefs.

It opposed provisions in the ACA that require payment for birth control services  and won a ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court that allows privately held companies to not pay for such services to employees.

Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday and the company’s charitable contributions are made to organizations, such as Oral Roberts University and the Museum for the Bible in Washington, D.C.
