Vehicle driven by man who later dies of gunshot wound crashes into 500 Delaware Avenue office high rise

A man died of a gunshot wound after crashing into a Wilmington office high-rise Saturday night.

Wilmington Police reported that Just before 9 p.m. on Saturday,  a report was received of a vehicle that struck the 500 Delaware Avenue building. The building houses the Pure Bread coffee shop as well as the headquarters for WSFS Bank.

Officers found the vehicle was occupied by a 23-year-old gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Wilmington Police are assisting with the investigation of the fatal shooting, which, according to a  preliminary investigation took place on Interstate 95, outside of Wilmington Police jurisdiction.

No other injuries have been reported in connection with the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
