One of two Delmarva Power contract workers who were shot while working on a natural gas system upgrade has died.
Wilmington Police identified the man as 31-year-old Dupree Burroughs of Smyrna. Burroughs was one of two Delmarva Power contract workers who were shot on Monday afternoon.
The other victim, a 48-year-old man has been listed in stable condition.
Delmarva Power issued the following on Monday:
“Earlier today, a shooting occurred injuring two contractors working on a gas main modernization project in Wilmington, Del. Our contractors were installing a new gas main and service lines to homes and businesses near 1807 W 2nd St. in Wilmington when the event occurred. Both contractors have been transported to the hospital and local authorities are investigating the incident. We work closely with our contractors every day on projects across our service area and this event impacts all of us at Delmarva Power. Our focus is now on our contractors, their families and coworkers, and our Delmarva Power employees.”
