The closing of a connecting road between heavily traveled Kirkwood Highway and the Christiana area has been pushed back to July.
Delaware Department of Transportation officials confirmedtoday that the closing, which caused an outcry in the area, has been pushed into mid-July.
DelDOT earlier announced that Harmony Road east of Newark will be closed from 6 a.m. on June 17 until 6 a.m. on August 1. The schedule can be affected by theweather.
A concrete deck will be replaced by A-Del Construction, Newark, on a bridge over White Clay Creek on Harmony Road between Route 2/Kirkwood Highway and Greenridge Road, Newark.
- South of Harmony Road: Route 2/Capitol Trail to Red Mill Road to Ruthar Drive to Route 273/Ogletown Road to Route 4/Ogletown-Stanton Road.
- North of Harmony Road: Route 4/Ogletown-Stanton Road to Route 273/Ogletown Road to Ruthar Drive to Red Mill Road to Route 2/Capitol Trail.
Detour signs will be posted for motorists.
