Thunderstorm rolls through northern Delaware

A  thunderstorm with heavy rain and brisk winds rolled through New Castle County Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service earlier issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning with winds up to 60 miles an hour. 

Delmarva Power reported that more than 5,000 of its more than 200,000 customers in New Castle County were without power. By 10 p.m, that number had dropped to 3,900. 

A storm Tuesday night containing hail and lightning downed trees in north Wilmington.

Mount Pleasant High School was closed on Wednesday after a lightning-related power outage, the Brandywine School District reported.
