Delaware ranks fifth as the most dangerous state for drivers during the Memorial Day weekend.
The ranking came from ASecurelife.com. Click on the headline below for the full list.
The website that rates and offers links to various security systems looked at fatal car crash statistics between 2013 and 2017 to determine which states were the safest and most dangerous for Memorial Day driving.
The ranking comes in spite of the state being wedged between two of the safest states, Maryland and more surprising, New Jersey. A nearby county in Maryland saw three fatalities on Thursday night.
Delaware does see an influx of traffic during the Memorial Day weekend to its increasingly popular beaches and along Interstate 95, which funnels traffic to the New Jersey Turnpike and into Philadelphia.
The state does benefit from tolls paid by motorists the Route 1 to the beach and I-95 in both directions.
