Good afternoon,

A  new book is likely to become a must-read for newcomers and old hands who want to learn more about  the ins and outs of the Delaware political and business scene

The book, Byrd of Legislative Hall.  covers the four-decade career of master lobbyist  Robert Lee (Bobby)  Byrd, a former member of the Delaware House of Representatives and  CEO  of The Byrd Group, LLC.

Byrd wrote the book with Celia Cohen, a  former  News Journal political reporter whose insights have been missed since the last post on her Delaware Grapevine online site in 2016.

Chester County author Bruce Mowday –  who has penned a couple of Delaware books, including a look at the Fort Delaware civil war prison –  managed the publishing details for Byrd and worked with the publisher, Regent Press of California.

A  launch event for the book is slated for  June 12 in Dover. The book is already available on Amazon in paperback or in an electronic format that can be read on a Kindle or other device.

U.S. Senator Chris Coons, who authored the book’s foreword, writes that “Bobby shares countless stories from his decades of work in the center of politics and policy in our state.”

The Amazon summary offers the following: “Not only has Byrd seen it all, but he has also seen who was in on it pulling the strings. He knows how to maneuver a governor into not vetoing a bill. He knows the reason people in Delaware can ride motorcycles with the helmet on their motorcycle and not their head.”
