The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the entire state of Delaware until 9 p.m. Friday.

The watch status means that conditions are favorable for the formation of tornadoes as a system moves through the state.

Delawareans were reminded of the seriousness of tornadoes when three twisters hit Sussex County earlier in the month. One tornado damaged several buildings in the Dagsboro area.

A storm in 2004  damaged military transport planes at New Castle County Airport and heavily damaged an electric supply wholesaler’s building.
