Harry’s Hospitality Group plans to add a second location for its popular Kid Shelleen’s casual dining establishment near the Trolley Square area in Wilmington.

The Small Wonder Big Bites Facebook page of food writer Pam George reported that the restaurant will open next year in a renovated Branmar Plaza shopping center in north Wilmington. It’s the first expansion in a while for Harry’s, owned by long-time restauranteur Xavier Teixido.

The location was formerly occupied by WSFS and will come with the renovation of the shopping center.

Harry’s had earlier sold  Harry’s Seafood Grill on the Wilmington Riverfront to long-time associate and chef  David Banks.

The new Kid Shelleen’s will be located in a heavily populated and relatively affluent area in north Wilmington that is  attractive for restaurant operators.

Harry’s upscale namesake restaurant, Harry’s Savoy Grill is located a few miles away off Naaman’s Road.

The history of Kid Shelleen’s can be traced by to 1492, a  restaurant company owned Teixido and Davis Sezna that also owned the establishment as well as Klondike Kate’s on Newark’s Main Street.

The partnership later dissolved with Teixido keeping Harry’s. Teixido went on to open the seafood grill in Wilmington and repurchased Kid Shelleen’s.

Teixido, whose career included a stint in New Orleans with the legendary Brennan dining family, is known his management and staff training efforts as well as alumni who have gone on to work as owners and chefs.
