Explosive device detonates near auto repair shop and leaves one man critically injured


The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the source of an explosion that occurred last evening in Claymont that left one man in critical condition.

The blast occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Governor Printz Boulevard near Wilmington. First responders found a 50-year-old man injured in the parking lot of a nearby vehicle repair shop. He was rushed to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room suffering from burns and lacerations. He has been admitted in critical condition.

Deputy fire marshals were called to the sceneand determined an explosive device had been detonated.

This explosion remains under investigation.No property damage occurred.
