Sonora at David Finney Inn   has opened in Old New Castle.

Melissa Ferraro., the owner of Newark’s   Outlandish   Food Truck opened the restaurant earlier in the month at 222 Delaware Street.

Sonora  will be open Thursday through Sunday, with brunch offered on Sundays. The restaurant may be closed at times for private parties.

Items include shirred eggs, salmon salad, Filet Mignon, hamburger, poutine and chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles is a mainstay for the Outlandish truck.

The menu was described by Ferraro as “gourmet comfort food. There is something for everyone.”

After operating a catering company,  Ferraro opened the  Outlandish Food Truck in 2015, according to the restaurant’s website.

The historic building said to date from the 1650s, has been the home of a succession of restaurants, but has been vacant for years.

The lack of a restaurant at the David Finney site has been a setback in efforts to build a greater retail-restaurant presence in the town along the Delaware River.

Earlier,  Trader’s Alley, a gift shop and coffee shop with light fare closed its doors.
