Trending: 8-restaurant food hall, bar & event center to open on April 18 in DuPont Building


An April 18 opening has been announced for a new food hall at the DuPont Building in downtown Wilmington.

DECO is a 13,000 square-foot food hall that will bring eight restaurant concepts, bar and event space to the rejuvenated ground floor of the historic building at 10thand Orange streets.

The building, redeveloped by the Buccini/Pollin Group, includes new headquarters space for Chemours Co. and is also home of the Hotel duPont.

Restaurants will be announced at a later date, a release stated.

The opening will run two full days, beginning at 5 p.m.on Thursday, April 18and continuing with events on April 19.

The grand opening party will spread throughout DECO’s indoor and outdoor drinking and dining spaces, including an atrium bar and private event space.

The event will feature live music, swag giveaways, entertainment for kids and families, a photo booth and food and drink available for purchase from DECO vendors.

Following the grand opening, DECO will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar service, weekdays starting at 7 a.m. and closing at 11 p.m., with extended hours on weekends.

The food hall will be managed Imian Partners, operators of the Wilmington Riverfront’s Constitution Yards Beer Garden.

One feature will be The Pop-Up, which will serve as a rotating test kitchen available to chefs and restauranteurs in two-week and one-month blocks.

DECO will also feature a full bar with a cocktail program, as well as beer and wine. The double-height space also serves as a backdrop for DECO’s private event space, which will begin accepting reservations for graduations, weddings, showers, engagement parties, work functions and other gatherings in coming weeks.
