Only a few outages were reported as high winds hit portions of Delaware.

Both Delmarva Power and Delaware Electric Cooperative warned business and residential customers that high winds expected Sunday night and into Monday could result in power outages.

As of Monday morning, only a few outages were reported in the Delmarva Power territory, with Delaware Electric reporting scattered instances of no power due to fallen tree limbs and one caused by a car crash.

A high wind warning has been issued for New Castle County from Sunday night and Monday. Kent and Sussex counties are under a wind advisory from the National Weather Service.

Both Delmarva and Delaware Electric issued advisories on social media.

Wind gusts could hit 55 and even 60 miles an hour in Delaware.

Trees could fall, due to the high combination of high winds and soft soil resulting from a combination of rain and snow in recent weeks.

Delmarva Power serves a large portion of Delaware with Delaware Electric’s territory in rural areas of Kent and Sussex counties.

Delaware also has a number of municipal electric utilities in some of its larger cities and towns that include Dover, Newark, and Middletown.
