City of Wilmington brings back Small Business Success course

The City of Wilmington is bringing back the Small Business Success Series, an eight-week course that can help aspiring entrepreneurs start and/or grow a business.

The course includes information about writing and carrying out a business plan as well as one-on-one business plan counseling.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for current business owners – or those who wish to start their own business – to network with peers and learn some of the best practices related to business development,” said Mayor Mike Purzycki. “Small businesses are the backbone of our city’s economy because they provide much-needed job opportunities and goods and services to the public. I am pleased that Wilmington is able to again offer this valuable program and I encourage those who have either developed or undeveloped business goals to attend.”

The Small Business Success Series is sponsored by the City’s Office of Economic Development. Classes begin on Tuesday, March 19 and will be held every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Hercules Plaza, located at 1313 Market Street.

The fee for the series is $75 for city residents andbusinesses and $100 for non-city residents and businesses. Interviews for enrollment begin this week and run through March 13. Space is limited, and applications are considered on a first come, first served basis.

Applications can be obtained in person from the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, at 800 North French Street, 3rd Floor, in Wilmington, or by calling (302) 576-2120. Applications can also be completed and submitted on the City’s website, at
