Bayhealth completed the move from Bayhealth Milford Memorial to the new $300 million Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus located at 100 Wellness Way on the outskirts of Milford.

The Bayhealth Hospital and Outpatient Center, Sussex Campus is now open to see patients. Bayhealth Milford Memorial is now closed. The move is rare, if not unprecedented in Delaware, a state with a limited number of hospitals

The patient move occurred on the morning of Feb. 5. Each patient was transported via a fully equipped ambulance under the supervision of a care team to Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus. A total of 62 patients were transferred. Following the transfer of the first inpatient rehabilitation patient, Bayhealth team members celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“Our team has worked diligently over the last several months to craft a patient move plan that ensured the safety and well-being of our patients,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry M. Murphy. “Our top priority during the move was ensuring the safety of our patients and staff, keeping families informed, and making this a smooth transition. We’re very pleased with the outcome of the move.”

When fully opened, the hospital serving a rapidly growing area of northern Sussex and southern Kent County will have a large number of outpatient facilities and offices.
