Delaware ranks in the bottom tier of states when it comes to the impact of the shutdown of a portion of the federal government.

The 36th place ranking for Delaware is just above California’s 37th position in calculations from the Wallet Hub website

Neighboring Maryland ranks third, thanks to the massive presence of the federal government in the Washington, D.C. area. Washington, D.C. itself ranks first, followed by New Mexico.
WalletHub identified the following metrics related to how people across the country will be affected by the absence of government services.
• Share of Federal Jobs
• Percentage of Families Receiving SNAP (Food Stamps). (Funding in place but could run out.
• Real Estate as Percentage of Gross State Product. (Mortgage processing through VA etc.)
• Access to National Parks: Full Weight
