Cinnaire appoints VP

Cinnaire, a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides  loans, investments and development services to support community development, recently announced the appointment of Chris Neary as Vice President, Policy, Research and Advocacy in the company’s Wilmington. 

[Not a valid template]Neary previously worked as an Economic Policy Advisor for U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, crafting and advancing her legislative and policy agenda on economic issues. He has also served as Policy Director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship where he oversaw the policy agenda for the Committee, including legislation, hearings and stakeholder engagement. Neary earned his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Policy Studies and Political Science from Dickinson College.

Christina K. Bell, CPA has been promoted to principal. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Wilmington University and resides in Clayton, Delaware.

Tracy M. Lyons has been promoted to Administrative Services Manager.

 Michael H. Abernathy, CPA has been promoted to Senior Accountant.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware.

Emily V. Schmidt, CPA, CFE successfully earned her Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Delaware.

The Laffey-McHugh Foundation names Veale Executive Director

The Laffey-McHugh Foundation announced that Todd Veale will become its new Executive Director later this month.

Veale worked for MBNA America Bank, N.A. from 1991-2006 in a number of important executive roles. From 1998-2006, he was a Senior Executive Vice President and member of the Senior Operating Committee of MBNA. Since 2006, Veale has been a business consultant and worked for several early-stage companies in the financial services industry. He has served on the board of directors of many local and national non-profit organizations. Veale received his B.A., cum laude, from Boston College and his MBA from Harvard Business School

Vice chancellors sworn in

The Delaware  Court of Chancery recently hosted public ceremonies to administer the Oath of Office for its two newest Vice Chancellors Morgan Zurn   and Kathaleen McCormick

Zurn and McCormick last fall to fill two newly- created seats on the state’s 227-year-old court of equity. In 2018, the Court of Chancery was expanded for the first time since 1989 from five to seven constitutional officers. The addition of Vice Chancellors Zurn and McCormick doubled the number of women who have served on the court in its history and brings to three the number of women currently serving on the Court as Vice Chancellors. Also in January, Selena E. Molina commenced her duties as a Master in Chancery.

Prior to being nominated to the Court of Chancery, Zurn served as a Master in Chancery since March 2016. Before joining the Court, she was a Deputy Attorney General at the Delaware Department of Justice, serving in the Consumer Protection Unit and in the Appellate Division. She served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard G. Andrews of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, where she also earned a Master’s degree in Bioethics, Vice Chancellor Zurn received her B.A. from the University of Virginia.

Prior to being nominated to the Court of Chancery, McCormick was a partner in the Delaware law firm Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor LLP, where she focused her practice on litigating internal governance and corporate disputes, primarily in the Court of Chancery. Before entering private practice, Vice Chancellor McCormick was a staff attorney with the Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. A graduate of Notre Dame Law School, Vice Chancellor McCormick received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Harvard College.

Shevock named to Del Tech  Board of Trustees

Nancy Shevock was nominated by Governor John C. Carney and confirmed by the Senate as the newest member of the Delaware Technical Community College Board of Trustees.

Shevock currently serves as chairman of the board of directors for Del-One Federal Credit Union and as a trustee on the State Board of Pension Trustees. She served as a special trustee for Delaware Tech’s Educational Foundation since 2011, serving on the Foundation’s Investment Committee since 2013, until this appointment to the Board of Trustees. She has been a member of Delaware Tech’s Terry Campus Development Council since 2010.

Shevock replaces William Bush, who served for over eight years on the board and resigned last fall when he was elected to serve in the Delaware House of Representatives.

Governor Carney also re-appointed Robert Hagerty, who has served since 2015, to Delaware Tech’s Board of Trustees for another three-year term. He was confirmed by the Senate as well.

Christiana Care  surgeon to be honored by Dartmouth

Ray A. Blackwell, M.D., Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at Christiana Care, will receive a lifetime achievement award Jan. 31 at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire.

The award is part of a Dartmouth celebration, “Standing at the Threshold,” honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Blackwell received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School’s Geisel School of Medicine.

He is currently a trustee of Christiana Care Health System, and on the board of directors for the New Castle County, Delaware and the regional Great Rivers Affiliate chapters of the American Heart Association.

Beebe Healthcare welcomes podiatrist

Beebe Healthcare welcomed Sandeep Khehra, DPM, podiatrist, to Beebe Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine.

Khehra attended the University of California at Berkeley for her undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology. Following undergrad, she moved to Philadelphia where she earned her doctorate in podiatric medicine at Temple University.

She went on to complete a 3-year residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center where she discovered her passion for wound care and healing.

Delaware Association of Realtors names president

Brad Riedle, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, has been installed as the 2019 president of the 4,000-member Delaware Association of Realtors (DAR).

The full slate of 2019 DAR officers installed at the event follows: President-Elect Beau Zebley (Kent County); Vice President Christopher Lind (Sussex County), Treasurer Neil Douen (New Castle County), and National Association of Realtors Directors Gail Renulfi (New Castle County) and Bob McVey (Sussex County).
