Wheeler Wolfenden and Dwares promotes Corcoran

Wheeler Wolfenden and Dwares, CPAs, suburban Wilmington,  announced the promotion of  Kathy Corcoran,  CPA from Principal to Director of the firm.

Corcoran joined the firm in 2001, after graduating from the University of Delaware with a bachelor of science degree in Accounting. She specializes in tax, accounting and auditing, forensic accounting and litigation support.

Sallie Mae names EVP

Sallie Mael named Donna Vieira executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

[Not a valid template]Vieira will oversee product development, sales, marketing, government relations, and communications for Sallie Mae’s consumer businesses, including private student loans, retail banking, personal loans, and credit cards.

Vieira brings product, marketing, and management experience to Sallie Mae. Most recently, she served as chief marketing officer for consumer banking and wealth management at JPMorgan Chase.

At JPMorgan Chase  she led the development of strategic marketing and brand initiatives to grow deposit and investment balances and customer relationships. Prior to that, Vieira served as product and marketing chief for Chase business banking. Vieira has also held executive leadership roles at Dun & Bradstreet, Merrill Lynch, and American Express.

Diamond State Financial Group announces designation 

Paul Jones earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. The ChFC designation is awarded to candidates who complete a prescribed program of study and exams and fulfill certain ethical and professional experience requirements.

Jones specializes in working with individuals and businesses on their insurance and financial services needs. He is with Diamond State Financial Group and he is also a Registered Representative with Securian Financial Services, Inc., securities dealer and member FINRA/SIPC. 

Delaware Botanic Gardens adds directors

Ray Sander, President of Delaware Botanic Gardens (DBG) announced that DBG has added two new leaders to its Board of Directors – Jeremy Hager and Scott Thomas.

Hager is President and Founder of The Land Care Advisory Group and Coastal Plant Care in Ocean View.  He is Sussex County’s only ISA Board Certified Master Arborist.

Thomas is Executive Director for Southern Delaware Tourism, the Convention & Visitors Bureau for Sussex County, DE. He has over 13-years of experience in the tourism industry and serves on the Board of Directors for the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee (SEDAC

Kent County Farm Bureau elects president

Jacob Urian has been elected president of Kent County Farm Bureau, joining Dale Phillips, newly elected president of Sussex County Farm Bureau, and Stewart Ramsey, president of New Castle County Farm Bureau.

Urian has been a Farm Bureau member for about nine years. He served as chairman of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee for the last three years. His replacement as YF&R chair will be elected in February.

Urian has been a conservation planner at Kent Conservation District in Dover for more than six years. He is a Certified Crop Advisor, nutrient management consultant and certified pesticide applicator.

Phillips is a third-generation poultry grower on Gravel Hill Farm in Georgetown. His grandfather started raising poultry in 1951. Phillips took over for him in 2005 and has since replaced the original chicken houses with two new structures with a total capacity of 60,000 birds.

Ramsey is a fifth-generation farmer, tilling former family land now leased from the First State National Historical Park. He is also a senior principal in IHSMarkit’s Agricultural Forecasting and Consulting Service. 

Tidewater Physical Therapy hires clinical director

Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates P.A. announced the hiring of  Phillip Tyre as the new Clinical Director and Doctor of Physical Therapy at their Milton location.

Tyre received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Salisbury University in 2002. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.  He  is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association, Maryland Athletic Trainers Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
