Event had been slated on day of the funeral  of former President Bush

The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Sen. Chris Coons announced the postponement of the annual Taste of Delaware event in Washington D.C.

“The annual Taste of Delaware celebration is a terrific event, one of the best attended and most anticipated of the annual state celebrations on Capitol Hill. I am grateful for the leadership of the State Chamber of Commerce and the active and enthusiastic participation of so many vendors over the past eight years that the Chamber has been coordinating the event. This year’s Taste of Delaware is scheduled for Wednesday evening, December 5, which is also the day of President George H.W. Bush’s state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Given that the Congress and the nation will be engaged in mourning the passing of a great American, I regretfully believe we need to work together to reschedule this year’s event to early next year, and I hope all involved will understand and join me in reflecting on President Bush’s many contributions to our nation,” said Coons.

The event has grown over the years to include offerings from Delaware restaurants and food companies.
