A college town mainstay in Newark is leaving its longtime home on Main Street.
Margheita’s Pizza announced it will close on Sunday but will relocate.
The site of the 38-year-old pizzeria is the proposed location for a hotel on Main Street. Menu items also include cheese steaks, subs and pasta.
Margherita’s Pizza fed many a hungry University of Delaware students with its pizza by the slice selections.
The News Journal/Delaware Online reported the restaurant will move about a mile away from its current location and will be more of a community restaurant than a late night student spot.
The Newark Post reported, the new location is in the Park N Shop shopping center on South Main Street, formerly Elkton Road. The location will have more parking.
