The LA Fitness Center at the Eden Square Shopping Center has reopened.
The newly opened center suffered apparent water damage, with clean-up crews on the scene this week.
The closing came on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. A notice on the company’s website said the center has been closed for repairs. No further information was released, although it is believed that flooring needs to be replaced.
LA Fitness took a portion of the Lowe’s store at the shopping center off Routes 40 and 7. Another section of the store space is occupied by clothing retailer Gabe’s.
LA Fitness opened earlier this year as fitness centers find homes in space occupied by big box store. To the east of Governor’s Square Planet Fitness will occupy space that was previously a Pathmark supermarket in the New Castle area.
Occupying new space a few miles away at the Christiana Fashion Center will be The Edge, a regional chain.
The large fitness center has a pool, a relative rarity among fitness centers in the area. It also put the fitness center into competition with the YMCA off Route 40.
LA Fitness has more than 700 clubs around the country.
