The House of Watches and Fine Jewelry will close its two stores.

The company announced the closing through a going out of business sale notice posted on its website.

The family business has locations on Washington Street near Wilmington Hospital and on Concord Pike, outside the city.

The business, according to the website was founded in  1944.

In addition to selling watches and clocks, House of Watches never changed its name as it became a  full-service jewelry store.

The reason for the closing was owners reaching retirement age and children pursuing other interests, The Delaware Business Times reported.
