Delaware Tech announces associate  VP

Dr. Melissa Rakes has been appointed to the position of associate vice president for academic affairs at Del Tech. [Not a valid template]

Rakes joined the college in 2002 and most recently served in an acting capacity for this position since June 2017. Prior to that, she was the dean of student affairs at the Jack F. Owens Campus, a senior financial aid specialist, and an academic counselor. In addition, she has taught developmental and English courses for the College as an adjunct faculty member.

She has a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Montana State University. She also earned an Advanced Educational Technology Certificate and an Introductory Educational Technology Certificate from Delaware Tech. She received Delaware Tech’s Excellence in Student Success Award in 2011 and 2015 and was awarded the National Academic Advising Association Excellence in Advising Administration for Region 2 in 2015.

CBRE names new Philadelphia area market chief

CBRE announced that Bob Walters will retire at the end of the year. Adam Mullen has been appointed to succeed Walters as Market Leader, effective January 1, 2019, with oversight for downtown and suburban Philadelphia, Delaware, southern New Jersey, the Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania.

Mullen has been CBRE’s Industrial & Logistics leader since 2016 and led the Occupier and Supply Chain practice for the Industrial & Logistics Group for two years before that.  Most recently, He Mullen spearheaded the launch of CBRE’s Omnichannel initiative, which leverages the company’s market-leading retail and industrial/logistics expertise to help clients seize the opportunities presented by e-commerce. 

Prior to joining CBRE in 2014, Mullen spent almost 10 years in the supply chain consulting industry, building a strong track record in complex supply chain projects and fostering long-term client partnerships.

eBrightHealth LLC names Corbo to top  post

Chris Corbo has been appointed executive director of eBrightHealth LLC, the first-of-its-kind alliance in Delaware, formed in 2016 between five   hospital systems in the First State to improve the quality and affordability of health care. Partner hospitals in the eBrightHealth alliance are Bayhealth, Beebe Healthcare, Christiana Care Health System, Nanticoke Health Services and Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Corbo brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic business development and population health, and expertise in the design and administration of employee benefit plans. He comes from Christiana Care Health System where he has been corporate director of benefits and wellness since 2005.

Prior to joining Christiana Care, he worked for Towers Perrin as a benefits consultant where he assisted Fortune 500 companies with benefits administration and design.

Corbo earned his B.S. in Economics from Rutgers University and is a graduate of Temple University Fox School of Business MBA Program. He is board certified in health care management as an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow.

NüPOINT Marketing names manager

NüPOINT Marketing welcomed Gaby Indellini as Senior Account Manager and Director, Social Media.  
 
As the primary liaison between NüPOINT and several key clients, Indellini manages the agency-client relationship, determines clients’ needs, and ensures NüPoint is exceeding client expectations. As well, she oversees NüPOINT’s delivery of social media services across the enterprise.
 
Indellini brings more than 10 years’ experience in media and digital marketing, and a  social media background.  Indellini joins NüPOINT from the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau. She holds a BA in Communications from DeSales University.

SoDel Concepts names new corporate pastry chef

Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts, announced that Dru Tevis is the hospitality company’s new corporate pastry chef.

Tevis has a degree in pastry arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York (now the International Culinary Center). He received a Grand Diploma in professional pastry arts and was the class valedictorian. Tevis also has a bachelor’s degree from New York University.

While in New York, Tevis worked under two prestigious pastry chefs:  Kierin Baldwin of The Dutch and Christina Tosi, the chef/owner of Momofuku Milk Bar.

Not content to rest on his laurels, he spent a year traveling to increase his knowledge and skills. He’s taken classes and seminars at The French Pastry School and the Chocolate Academy, both in Chicago, Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Good Taste of Tuscany in Signa, Italy, and Leith’s School of Food & Wine in London.

Delmarva Power honors six employees

Delmarva Power recognized six employees with the company’s annual Premiere Customer Experience Award for their work in delivering exceptional customer service over the last year. The award recognizes employees who made a difference in the lives of customers through assistance and support on important topics, such as energy bills, energy assistance programs, or service requests.  

Delmarva Power established the award as part of its ongoing efforts to continually promote a customer-focused environment and to recognize employees who go above and beyond to provide a positive customer experience. 

The employees recognized for their commitment to customer support include: Stephanie Watkins, a Delaware energy advisor from New Castle, who has worked for Delmarva Power for 18 years; Tracey Whye, a senior outreach specialist from New Castle, who has worked for Delmarva Power for 14 years; George Cook, a senior outreach specialist from Wilmington who has worked for Delmarva Power for 14 years; Karen Lester, a customer service representative from Wilmington who has worked for Delmarva Power for three years; Genise Brown, a customer care representative from Magnolia who has worked for Delmarva Power for two years and Jean Kemp, a customer care representative from Middletown who has worked for Delmarva Power for one year.

Award recipients were chosen based on feedback provided by customers and so demonstrated an  ability to bring together their knowledge, listening skills, and drive to deliver an exceptional customer experience. The employees also received trophies and certificates commemorating their accomplishments.
