Burger King fire at I-95 service area causes $10,000 in damage

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that Saturday’s fire that damaged an I-95restaurant was accidental.

The Christiana Fire Company responded shortly before 11:30 am to the Burger King inside the Biden service area of Interstate 95, south of Newark. Firefighters encountered a fire inside the kitchen. The building was evacuated and the fire was extinguished.

Deputy fire marshals determined the fire erupted in a commercial broiler and ran into the ventilation duct that runs from the cooking equipment through the roof.

Fire damage is estimated at $10,000. No injuries were reported. The building will re-open once the maintenance staff isolates the damaged areas.
