Fire at Millsboro apartment construction site causes $1.5 million in damage

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a Thursday night fire near  Millsboro that destroyed an apartment building under construction.

The blaze, reported shortly after 9 p.m., occurred at the Carillon Woods apartment complex in the 34000 block of Harvard Avenue near the intersection of Route 24 and Route 5.  The Indian River Volunteer  Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames shooting from the four-story building.

State fire investigators are currently on the scene searching for the fire’s  cause. The 30-unit  building was under construction

Fire damage was estimated to exceed  $1.5 million.  There were no reported injuries. This fire remains under investigation.
