New York man arrested after police find 80 cases of booze after a traffic stop on the Del. Memorial Bridge

A New York man was arrested he was found transporting thousands of dollars of alcoholic beverages. 

On Oct. 19,  the Delaware Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) was called to assist the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police. Officers conducted an unrelated traffic stop and discovered a large amount of alcohol in a vehicle.

Gui Wei Pan, 46, of Flushing, NY was found to be in possession of  more than 80  cases of various brands of alcohol valued at more than $12,000. 

DATE officers charged Pan with Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Prohibited Transportation of Alcohol without Possessing Proper License, and Attempt to Evade or Defeat Tax.  The vehicle and over $1,700 were confiscated.  Pan was arraigned at  Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,400 unsecured bond.     

Delaware has low alcoholic beverage taxes when compared to states like New York,  and from time to time individuals are found transporting large quantities of liquor.
