Extended stay hotel employee charged with stabbing coworker during fight over Pine-Sol

The Delaware State Police have arrested Doris M. Harris, 42 of New Castle, on assault and weapons charges in a stabbing incident over a household cleaner.

On Saturday, at 12:32 p.m., troopers responded to the Extended Stay America Hotel at 333 Continental Drive, Newark, Christiana.

Troopers found a 52-year-old Wilmington woman with a  stab wound to her lower extremities in the employee break room.

Troopers approached Harris as she was walking away from the troopers with her hands concealed in front of her body. She was placed into handcuffs without incident.

According to a State Police release, Harris said she was cleaning a guest’s room and was approached by the victim who accused her of stealing Pine-Sol cleaning solution.

Both argued, with the incident turning into a fight, with Harris grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing the woman  The woman was treated on the scene with a non-life threatening injury by emergency medical workers before being transported to local area hospital.

Harris was charged with one count each of Assault 2nd Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.

She was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of $35,000.00 secured bond.
