Bronx man arrested after traffic stop that leads to discovery of counterfeit bills, items

Delaware State Police have arrested a New York City man in connection with suspected counterfeit currency and products found during a traffic stop.

The arrest occurred on Saturday, October 6, at   10:06 a.m. when troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Toyota Sienna Van in the area of the Dover Toll Plaza.

The vehicle was traveling southbound in the right lane of  Route 1 and made an erratic maneuver in the EZ-Pass area.

A trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  The driver, Alsurymi Abdulrahman, 33 of the  Bronx, appeared to be nervous, a release stated.  

When asked for his license and registration,  the passenger opened the glove box and in plain view was a large amount of U.S. currency.  The driver quickly shut the glove box that contained what turned to be counterfeit currency.

Also, the rear of the vehicle had an open bag containing a large amount of  currency. 

A search warrant for the vehicle was completed and the occupants were transported back to Troop 3, Camden.  A Delaware State Police K-9 Unit conducted a canine scan and positively found the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.

The search of the Toyota Sienna Van revealed large amounts of counterfeit Apple electronics products which included 31 Lightning USB cables, (5) Ear Plugs, (110) USB Power Adapters and (91) I-phone 7 USB Lightning cables. A total of $72,600.00 in suspected counterfeit product proceeds were located and seized.\

Alsurymi Abdulrahman, 33  was charged with Counterfeit Trademark (Felony), Driving without a Licence and Improper Lane Change. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 7 and posted $500  secured bond.
