Delaware City is losing a dining spot on its main street with the closing Sunday of Lewinsky’s on Clinton.

The restaurant featured a casual format, with the name a takeoff on its location on Clinton Street and the sex scandal involving intern Monica Lewinsky and the former president.

The name raised eyebrows in the quiet town along the Delaware River.

The closing  announcement was made about a week ago on social media.

No reason has been given for the closing, which came after a five-year run and a large investment in the property.

The restaurant came as Delaware City saw progress in a revitalization effort. Now underway is the redevelopment of the Fort DuPont area, which is part of the municipality. Housing and businesses are not planned for the site, which now houses various operations of the State of Delaware.

The restaurant shared ownership with Crabby Dick’s, a dining and entertainment spot at the end of Clinton Street.
