Mountaire’s Amanda Irwin, senior director of processing operations, presented Selbyville, with a donation of $210,000 to help pay for improvements to Railroad Avenue.

The company’s donation will pay for more than half of the  project. The road has been closed since March due to a rusting culvert underneath the roadway.

A grant from DNREC will make up the balance of the project’s cost.

“The town is very thankful for Mountaire’s participation in the project which has enabled us to move forward with this without having to find additional funding,” Selbyville Mayor Clifton Murray said. “Very appreciative Mountaire has stepped up to the plate for this long overdue culvert replacement.

Mountaire is a poultry processing company.
