U.S. Sen. Tom Carper won an easy victory over a challenge by Kerri Harris, with two Kathleens getting the Democratic nod for statewide offices.

With nearly all votes counted, Democrat Carper had a  64 to 36 percent margin over Harris, whose candidacy drew national attention. Harris waged a spirited campaign but faced a Delaware politician who has never lost an election.

“While we did not win the primary election, in many ways we won much more,” said Harris in her concession speech “We activated thousands of supporters who had previously not been politically engaged. We mobilized many among the majority of Delawareans who support a $15 minimum wage, lower costs for prescription drugs, and a clean energy economy– and we’ll continue to advocate and engage those voters throughout the fall and beyond.”

“In the course of this election, Senator Carper has already shown that he’s eager to listen to Delawareans, and that is why he has embraced their call for a $15 minimum wage and the rescheduling of marijuana. I look forward to supporting him in November, and continuing to work with him to put Delaware first,” Harris said.

On the Republican side, Sussex County Commissioner Rob Arlett scored an easy win over Gene Truono for the Republican nomination for Senate.

Arlett, who helped run President Donald Trump’s campaign in Delaware, faces an uphill against Carper, a vocal critic of the president.

Scott Walker appeared to get the nod in a two-way race for the Republican nomination for the state’s lone congressional seat. Current Democratic Congressman Lisa Blunt Rochester was unopposed.  Walker is no relation to the well known Republican governor from Wisconsin.

In the three-way race among Democrats for State Auditor, Rehoboth Beach Commissioner and businessperson Kathy McGuiness held a solid lead over Kathleen Davies, a former top official in the auditor’s office. Former State Rep. Dennis Williams.

in the Attorney General’s race, former state prosecutor Kathleen Jennings held a solid lead in a crowded field.
