Dover Police  arrested a 36-year-old Dover man after he caused an estimated $65,000 in damage to commercial air conditioning units in the Bay Court Plaza shopping center.

Dover Police were called  to the area at  3:44 a.m.  for a report of a burglary in progress.  Officers found a man identified as  Jerome Davis at the rear of the center inside of a maroon Firebird with temporary Maryland tags.  Davis was wearing a headlamp and black gloves when he was contacted by officers and was in possession of freshly cut parts from commercial air conditioning units.

Police determined that  Davis accessed the roof of the complex and cut several parts off of the units, perhaps with an eye toward selling the parts or attempting to get payment from a scrap/recycling facility.  The value of the items stolen was estimated to be $13,000 with another $65,000 in damage  to the rooftop air conditioning units.

Davis was  jailed  in default of $2,850 bond on the following charges:

-Theft $1,500.00 or Greater
-Possession of Burglary Tools
-Criminal Mischief Over $1,500.00
-Trespass 2nd Degree
