The City of Rehoboth Beach, with the support of the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, City of Lewes, Town of Dewey Beach, Town of Fenwick Island, Town of Bethany Beach, Town of South Bethany, Henlopen Acres, and Save Our Lakes Alliance 3, was selected to be the next partner for the Resilient Community Partnership program.
The program is sponsored by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Delaware Coastal Programs Section and leverages federal funding to provide Delaware communities with technical assistance and potential funding to plan for and reduce the impacts of coastal and climate hazards.
As the lead municipality, Rehoboth Beach will work closely with these municipalities, the Delaware Coastal Programs Section and other community partners to begin a comprehensive study of impervious surface cover due to redevelopment in the coastal communities, and its impacts on stormwater management, flooding, and water quality.
This opportunity will not only strengthen the impact improving local water resources and remaining resilient in the face of sea level rise, coastal storms, and climate hazards but also build upon the existing partnerships between coastal municipalities and their key partners, a release stated.
