Offerings include sandwiches, salads, wraps and hot items, such as grilled cheeses and soups, as well as a variety of beverage choices ranging from juice to organic coffee.

The food is made fresh on-site every day and signature items include the Balsamic Chicken & Avocado Sandwich, Pret’s  ham & cheese baguette, pesto chicken salad and Moroccan lentil soup.

Jo Brett, Pret’s U.S president, commented, “Our menu of freshly prepared food and organic coffees are perfect for those on the go, and we will be serving fresh breakfast, lunch and evening options from the kitchen of our new shop alongside sweet treats, juices and hot drinks. “Whether a family on summer vacation or a solo business traveler, our guests can count on HMSHost to make road trips delicious,” said HMSHost Executive Vice President of Restaurant Development Stephanie Havard. “HMSHost offers customers a multitude of choices based on the latest food & beverage trends to keep them feeling good on the move. Pret A Manger is the perfect option for Delaware Welcome Center visitors seeking freshly made, flavorful food.”

Vic Buono, chief of DMV/Toll Operations with the Delaware Department of Transportation attended the opening and said, “I am very pleased with the new Pret addition. I’m certain that our customers will appreciate the efficiency and professionalism of the staff along with the outstanding food and drink offerings.”

As part of Pret’s commitment to alleviating the pressures of homelessness, this new shop will donate any unsold food to local charity Second Harvest.

Pret  has donated over 5 million meals to those in need since the first U.S. shop opened in New York City in 2000.

Founded in London in 1986, Pret A Manger (“Ready to Eat”) is a sandwich shop  with more over 500 shops in nine countries. Further information is available at    www.pret.com

The shop replaces the Brioche Dorée  space. Brioche Dorée is a French-based  chain of sandwich shop/bakeries.

The Delaware Welcome Center is locked in a battle with the Maryland House as the most visited I-95 travel center. Maryland and Delaware were grandfathered in after a ban on state travel plazas that was  pushed by truck stop operators.

Maryland and  Delaware plazas were built in areas that allow access from both directions of traffic.

HMSHost operates travel plazas and airport dining centers.
