Fire causes $1 million in damage to North East, MD restaurant

A fire that destroyed a Cecil County restaurant remains under investigation.

The early morning fire caused $1 million in damage to the Chef’s Kitchen restaurant off Route 40 in North East, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Damage to the building was estimated at $500,000, with contents accounting for the remainder.

The North East Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding fire department. A total of 40 firefighters battled the blaze.

We are all truly heartbroken by this. Unfortunately we know very little in regard to what happened. Thank God, no one was hurt in this fire. We appreciate all the well wishes and prayers. So many of our loyal customers have stopped by and contacted us. We are so grateful for your thoughts and concern. We will keep you posted on our future plans.
