Chelsea Tavern underwent a major expansion that includes new indoor/outdoor seating called “The Terrace.”
Chelsea Tavern transformed an existing alleyway into a new indoor/outdoor seating area. This expansion, called “The Terrace,” will add sixty new seats to the revered establishment.
“This new dining area will give us something that no one else downtown has presently. Everyone loves to dine al fresco and Wilmingtonians are no different. This intimate space will definitely help solidify DownTown Wilmington as a dining destination!” said Joseph Van Horn, owner of Chelsea Tavern.
The expanded area also features wrought iron gates opening on either side of the alleyway that show planters. “This adds to the already existing comfy ambience,” said Van Horn. “It’s a great place to sit back and enjoy the outdoors and people watch.”
Chelsea Tavern is across from the Grand Opera House, and the converted alleyway was once a thoroughfare for many parking and heading to the threater. Additionally, the Playhouse at Rodney Square is located in the Hotel DuPont located 1.5 blocks north, and the Queen Theater, operated by LIVE Nation, is three blocks south.
“The Terrace will now be a cool indoor/outdoor seating area that patrons are sure to enjoy,” Van Horn said.
Chelsea Tavern features an a la carte menu, kids menu, light fare menu, dessert menu, and beer menu. It has 31 craft beers on tap, happy hour, a late night happy hour and brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
