Rehoboth Beach Main Street has new director

The Rehoboth Beach Main Street (RBMS) Board of Directors announced Karen Falk will serve as Executive Director. [Not a valid template]

Falk is a former Executive Director of Southern Delaware Tourism, former small business owner, and more recently, she was Director of Marketing and Communications with Jack Lingo, Realtor. Her professional experiences also include television production at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, hotel sales and marketing management within the Baltimore – Washington, D.C. region, and a liaison for small and large businesses for Howard County Government, Howard County, Maryland. She recently served on the board of directors of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, The Boys & Girls Club of Rehoboth Beach, and is currently on the Board of Trustees for The Children’s Beach house in Lewes, Delaware.

Summit Aviation names Karnes as government, defense VP

Summit Aviation, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announced that it has hired Lou Karnes as its new Vice President of Government and Defense Aircraft Services.

A military veteran and experienced aviator, Karnes recently retired after more than 21 years in the U.S. Army where he most recently served as the Product Manager for the MH-60M Special Operations Forces (SOF) Blackhawk.

He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management, and he also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Delaware.

Pepco Holdings names legislative VP

Delmarva Power parent company  Pepco Holdings announced the appointment of Anne Lindner as the company’s Vice President for State Legislative Affairs. Lindner fills a new position created to consolidate the legislative affairs efforts for Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power, and Pepco.

  Prior to joining Exelon, Lindner was a commission advisor at the Maryland Public Service Commission, where she provided counsel on wholesale and retail electricity policy.

She received her Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law and her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame. 

Navient elects board member

 Navient has elected Frederick Arnold to its board of directors.

Arnold has held a series of senior financial positions at private equity-owned portfolio companies, and prior to these roles, he spent 20 years as an investment banker, primarily at Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney.

He currently serves as chairman of Corporate Capital Trust, as a board member of Syncora Holdings Ltd., and is a member of the post-emergence board of directors of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. He graduated from Amherst College, the University of Oxford and Yale Law School.

Pete du Pont Freedom Award

Carol A. Ammon was announced as the next recipient of the Pete du Pont Freedom Award. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3rd at the Hotel DuPont. 

The Pete du Pont Freedom Award is named after one of Delaware’s most distinguished leaders. As Governor of Delaware, Presidential candidate, founder of GOPAC, a scholar at the Hudson Institute and the National Center for Policy Analysis and as a spokesman and writer, Pete du Pont has been a national leader in the cause of preserving and enhancing individual freedoms. The award is given to an accomplished world citizen who, like Pete du Pont, has demonstrated a life-long leadership commitment to this same cause.

Ammon will be celebrated and recognized for her success in launching Endo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and its impact on Delaware over the ensuing twenty plus years along with her philanthropic work to help transform Wilmington Hospital into a state-of-the-art center of healing and compassion.

Cinnaire names chief strategy officer

Cinnaire, Wilmington, a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides creative loans, investments and development services to support community development, recently announced Jim Peffley has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer. Jim Logue, former CSO, shifts to focus on public policy issues as Chief Public Policy Officer. Logue will also continue to provide ongoing support to the executive leadership team.

Peffley serves on the board of the Housing Alliance Delaware, the National Association of State and Local Equity Funds (NASLEF), and the Community Service Building Corporation. In 2015, he was the HDC MidAtlantic Housing Advocate of the Year, an award honoring someone who has made significant contributions to affordable housing. 

Two join Delaware Bioscience 

Jamie Pedrick joined  Delaware Bioscience as the Marketing & Events Manager. Pedrick has over 15 years of marketing experience including web design, collateral production, and event management.

Mitch Topal joined Delaware Bioscience as Marketing Communications, public affairs and Event Manager. Topal serves as President of Delaware Press Association. Prior to joining Delaware Bio, Mitch worked for the Delaware Office of Highway Safety as Marketing Specialist and Public Information Officer.

Council for Advancement and Support of Education elects Pickrum

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) elected Dr. Vita Pickrum, Delaware State University’s vice president of Institutional Advancement, as one of 10 new members of its Board of Trustees.

The 30-member board sets CASE policies, approves the annual budget and ensures sound management of the organization.  The results were announced during the annual membership meeting at the 2018 CASE Summit for Leaders in Advancement in New York City. 

Pickrum – who has been a part of DSU Institutional Advancement since 2008 – also is the president of the Delaware State University Foundation.  She currently serves on the CASE Commission on Philanthropy and the National Steering Committee for Institutionally Related Foundations.  Earlier this year, she was presented with the Professional of the Year Award by CASE District II.
