Family Promise highlights hidden homelessness

Family Promise of Northern  New Castle County wanted to get the word out that family homelessness is a big problem in Delaware.

Ryan Catalani, director of donor relations, said the organization used unrestricted funds in a campaign that outlines the little-known fact that in the First State, an estimated 6,500 children experience homelessness — one in every 30 kids.

The campaign includes a website, HiddenDE.org, newsletters and billboards at a trio of sites in northern New Castle County. [Not a valid template]

The campaign is important since most see the unhidden side of homelessness from the presence of single individuals.

Easterseals fundraiser honors Adami

Easterseals   will hold a “Brews for Bill Adami” event on August 1, 2018 at Grain H2O, 3006 Summit Harbour Place, Bear.

The event is being held in memory of former Delaware  Easterseals President/CEO, Bill Adami, Grain H2O will feature special guest bartenders from 5 to 8 p.m. who will serve up Adami’s favorite drinks. All tips will benefit Easterseals Adami Fund for Innovation.

In addition, if you bring this flyer to Grain H2O and present it to your server at any time on August 1, Grain H2O will donate 20 percent of your food check to Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

As a 14-year-old volunteer at a state institution for people with significant intellectual disabilities, Bill witnessed the inhumane treatment at that time and it forged his passionate commitment to ensure that people with disabilities would be treated with dignity and respect.

That passion brought Adami to Easterseals where he served in multiple roles for 22 years. After Adami’s untimely passing, the Easterseals board of directors created a fund bearing his name which honors Adami ’s leadership and innovation at Easterseals.
