A brewery that has been popular with Delaware beer-lovers  is finally adding a new brew to its portfolio.

D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. is adding  Yuengling Golden Pilsner.  Golden Pilsner is Yuengling’s first year-round beer to debut in 17 years. Yuengling is America’s oldest brewer and is based in Pottsville, PA.

The company recently announced the beer is now available in Delaware in time for summer.

“Yuengling Golden Pilsner is our unique interpretation of a refreshing pilsner, with all of the qualities consumers have come to expect from Yuengling in a beer that is highly sessionable and full of flavor,” said Jen Yuengling, a sixth-generation brewer, at family-owned Yuengling. “We continue to listen to our fans and we saw an opportunity to deliver a new Yuengling beer that complements our core portfolio of iconic beers including Traditional Lager, Light Lager, and Black & Tan.”

“We spent over 18 months developing this beer and believe it is a great choice for outdoor, social and active occasions. We’re excited for consumers to try it,” said Yuengling.

The 135-calorie Yuengling Pilsner is aimed at beer drinkers who prefer lighter products. Mexican-made Corona (148 calories) is a top seller and Milton-based Dogfish Head’s SeaQuench (140 calories) has quickly become a top seller at the craft brewer.

The three top sellers in the U.S. are light beers.

Family-owned Yuengling has survived the beer wars with multinationals and has emerged as the nation’s largest craft brewer and the sixth largest U.S. brewer.
